Beyond the Legend
The original Karuizawa Whisky once captivated whisky lovers worldwide.
Distillation resumed in December 2022,
and the first new barrels were filled in early 2023.
Our very first new whisky is set to complete its 10-year maturation in 2033.
To honor the “value of time” that the rich nature of Karuizawa nurtures, we do not sell new make spirit.
Whisky fans around the world eagerly await the birth of a new legend.
Since 1653 The Edo era
The origin of Karuizawa whisky is Totsuka Shuzo, a long-established brewery that has been making sake for over 370 years since the Edo period.
In addition to that, He launched the new whisky company under the name of Karuizawa Whisky Co.,LTD welcoming Mr. Nakazato as a Master Distiller and Mr. Uchibori as an official advisor (He sadly passed away in 2021).
Both of them used to work for the old Karuizawa Whisky under Mercian.
We honor the legacy of the iconic Karuizawa Whisky by Mercian,
and we now strive to build upon and surpass it.
